Subject Expertise:
Chinese (K-8), Conversational Chinese Practice
About Me:
I grew up in Taiwan, studied my undergrad as International Business with Spanish in Suzhou, China. Since I have been living in two places, I encountered a lot of differences between Taiwan and China, which I am willing to share during the tutoring. For my tutoring philosophy, I would like to use some personal experiences to enhance student’s understandings and memories – in the aspects of cultures, such as styles of living, differences in education, and so on. Additionally, I would like to focus on daily conversational speaking more since it is more useful when you go abroad to countries that speak Mandarin.
Education & Relevant Training:
- M.S. Supply Chain Management – University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business
- B.A. International Business w/ Spanish – Xi’an Jiaotong – Liverpool University
Experience:
I have experience teaching elementary school students for 5 days as a volunteer. The most important thing was to be patient and help them stay focused on classes. Also, expanding some relevant knowledge on a topic to help students remember can be an effective way of teaching.
Teaching Philosophy:
I am very encouraging, I point out the mistakes but still compliment the student on anything possible to give them confidence and enthusiasm to learn, so they won’t be afraid to ask questions.
Hobbies and Interests:
- Piano, badminton, calligraphy
Future Goals:
My future goals after graduating are to find a job in the U.S. if possible, then go back to Taiwan or China before my U.S. visa expires to achieve a higher-level position.
