Do high school tutors get paid?

A: High school tutors at NextGen Matters typically begin as volunteers, gaining valuable experience while giving back to the community.

All tutoring sessions are conducted online via Zoom or Google Meet, allowing tutors to participate flexibly while balancing their school schedule.

Through the program, tutors:

Gain real-world experience
Build leadership skills through mentoring, communication, and problem-solving
Earn verified community service hours
Strengthen their college applications and stand out to admissions

Senior-level high school tutors are eligible to earn $20/hour starting April 1st of their graduating year, as part of our commitment to supporting students in their transition to college. They are then treated similarly to college-level tutors.

Do college tutors get paid?

A: Yes, college tutors at NextGen Matters are compensated at a rate of $20 per hour, as part of our commitment to supporting students through the financial demands of college while giving back to the community.

All tutoring sessions are conducted online via Zoom or Google Meet, allowing tutors to work flexibly and manage their time around a busy college schedule.

In addition to compensation, tutors:

A: Yes! Our platform provides both volunteer and paid tutoring services. High school students, guest speakers, and mentors volunteer their time, while college students are compensated for their tutoring services. Our goal is to provide affordable academic support while also helping college students with financial assistance for their education.

Is there a cost for tutoring?

A: Yes, we charge a nominal fee for tutoring to help expand access to more students. These fees directly support our educational programs, resources, and outreach, ensuring we can continue providing high-quality mentorship and learning opportunities. Additionally, most of the tutoring fee goes directly to supporting college student tutors, helping them offset the costs of their education.
